Founded in 1934, Velvac started out as the Vacuum Power Equipment Company. It made air brakes for heavy-duty trucks. It later changed its name to Velvac, an abbreviation of its popular Velvet Vacuum Brakes brand.

In addition to fuel caps, Velvac makes other fuel system components. These include return flows designed for dual-draw/dual-return diesel fuel systems. Designed to distribute fuel equally to both the left and right fuel tanks, these products eliminate the need for a crossover line.
Velvac’s return flow splitters feature a convenient T configuration for easy plumbing to each tank. The durable zinc die-cast bodies have three 1/2-inch FPT ports and two 1/4-inch mounting holes. Applications for these products include Ford and Kenworth as well as Navistar, Volvo, Mack, Peterbilt and Western Star.
For systems with fuel or vapor return lines, Velvac’s Six-Port Motor-Driven Valve can offer peace of mind. After power is disconnected, the valve remains in the actuated position, reducing the chance that fuel will return to the wrong tank. This valve permits high closing pressures and operates on 12VDC. Built to withstand the harshest conditions, it has an operating temperature range of -40º F to 180º F. Not intended for use with fuel systems operating over 30 psi, it should be used with Velvac’s electrical connector for new installations.
