A compressor that takes too long to build pressure, or pushes oil into the dryer, has usually worn out, and the Bendix Air Brake Compressor replaces it. Worn rings let oil pass into the air system, where it fouls the dryer cartridge and valves. Installing a new compressor fixes the source, but the dryer cartridge and discharge line should be checked for oil at the same time. Timing the build-up from empty after the Bendix 5002984 is installed gives a baseline for future checks.
