Bendix ABS Wheel Speed Sensor
ABS and stability systems on air-braked trucks are the setting for the Bendix ABS Wheel Speed Sensor, which reports how fast each wheel turns. The ABS controller compares those readings to spot a wheel starting to lock, so a dead or weak sensor disables antilock control on that wheel. Pushing the sensor in until it touches the tone ring sets the air gap correctly. Spinning the wheel and reading the output of the Bendix 801553 with a meter or diagnostic tool confirms a usable signal.
