Bendix Automatic Slack Adjuster
Self-adjustment is the key feature of the Bendix Automatic Slack Adjuster, which takes up lining wear on S-cam brakes without manual adjustment. As linings wear, the Bendix 975628N rotates the camshaft slightly further to keep pushrod stroke within limits. Installation requires setting the initial adjustment as the instructions direct, then confirming stroke with a full brake application. A stroke that keeps growing after installation points to a brake problem the adjuster cannot fix, such as worn shoes or cam.
