Bendix Camshaft

Brake application on this axle depends on the Bendix Camshaft rotating counterclockwise to spread the shoes against a 16.5-inch Eaton brake drum. Camshaft rotation is handed to match the axle side it serves, and the wrong rotation direction spreads shoes incorrectly or binds against the drum. The Bendix 815462N is heat-treated at the journal and splines to resist wear at those contact points, then oil-washed and boxed to resist corrosion before it's installed. Matching rotation direction and brake size to this axle keeps the shoes applying evenly instead of dragging on one side.
