Small Ford and Mercury cars from the early 1990s take the Motorcraft Engine Oil Filter in this compact size, including the 1991-1996 Escort, 1996-1997 Aspire, 1991-1994 Capri, and 1989 and 1991-1996 Tracer. Its media is rated at 80 percent efficiency on particles 20 microns or larger. This filter does not carry the S suffix Motorcraft uses to mark a silicone anti-drainback valve, making it the standard-valve version of this size. The Motorcraft FL816 still uses a pressure-relief valve to keep oil supplied in extreme cold or if the filter becomes clogged.
