The Bendix Air Brake Limiting Valve reduces air pressure delivered to the front brakes during light-pedal application, a function some steer-axle setups use to manage traction on slippery surfaces. That pressure reduction only applies at lower pedal pressures; once the driver presses harder, the valve allows full pressure through to both axles for a complete stop. That behavior preserves full braking pressure when the pedal is pushed harder. The Bendix 102196N is calibrated to reduce pressure at the same ratio the valve it replaces used, so front-axle brake balance stays where the system was tuned.
