Allison Park/Neutral and Back-Up Lamp Switch
The Allison Park/Neutral and Back-Up Lamp Switch combines two vehicle-control signals at the transmission: park/neutral status and reverse-lamp activation. Designed for the 2004.5-2005 five-speed NSBU setup, the switch changes electrical states with selector position so the starting interlock and back-up light circuit respond to the transmission range. The shared switch body handles both signals, reducing two range-dependent electrical functions to one transmission-mounted component. The Allison 29541852 is especially relevant when park/neutral starting behavior and reverse-lamp operation are affected at the same time.
One of the most common problems with the Allison transmission is failure of the Neutral Safety Back Up switch.
Some of the symptoms of failure include but are not limited to:
- No start condition
- Gear shift indicator on dash not following properly
- Trans stuck in limp mode or fail safe
- DTC's set indicating pressure switch codes
This switch easily installs with just common hand tools.
