An O-ring does its work by being squeezed, and the Allison Transmission Filter O-Ring is the small ring that seals a transmission filter connection. As it is tightened, the ring compresses into its groove and fills the gap between the two surfaces. A 12.3 mm inner diameter sets how snugly the ring sits on its fitting, which is what lets it compress evenly. Because rubber hardens and flattens after repeated heat cycles, the Allison Transmission 29512875 is replaced whenever the filter joint is opened.
