Uneven shoe wear across one brake, with one lining thinner at the cam end, can point to a worn S-cam, and the Bendix Air Brake Camshaft replaces it. A flattened cam head pushes the shoes unevenly, so one lining does more of the work. Fitting a new shaft with new bushings and rollers restores even shoe contact. Checking the length and left or right hand of the Bendix K117590N against the old shaft before installing avoids a mismatch.
