Holding back air until a set pressure is reached is the key feature of the Bendix Air Brake Pressure Protection Valve. That lets the brake system charge first, and it isolates an accessory circuit if a leak drops pressure, so the brake reservoirs keep their air. Fitting the Bendix 286500N ahead of an accessory such as an air horn or seat keeps a leak in that accessory from draining the brakes. Watching the gauge as the system charges confirms the valve opens at its set pressure.
