The Baldwin BF1397-SP is a spin-on design sized for Caterpillar fuel systems, so it installs on the existing filter head without modification. That drop-in fit still faces a real threat: temperature swings let moisture condense in the tank, working toward the pump unless pulled out first. Separating that moisture consistently protects injection components built to run on clean, dry fuel rather than a mix of diesel and water.
