Bendix Automatic Slack Adjuster
Hold pushrod stroke inside legal limits between relines with the Bendix Automatic Slack Adjuster. As the linings wear, the adjuster turns the camshaft a little further on its own, so the brake does not drift out of adjustment. Installing the Bendix 974294 calls for setting the initial adjustment exactly as its instructions describe. Stroke that keeps growing afterward points to a worn cam, bushing, or lining rather than the adjuster.
