Designed as an energize-to-trip magnetic switch, it releases when it receives a shutdown signal from a Murphy switchgage or control circuit monitoring conditions such as oil pressure or coolant temperature. When tripped, the push-pull button pops outward, opening the shutdown circuit and providing a clear visual indication that a fault has occurred. This switch operates on 12V or 24V DC systems, making it suitable for a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines. Manual reset is required after a shutdown, ensuring the cause of the trip is addressed before the engine can be restarted. The Murphy 117 is commonly used in Murphy WD300 Series panels and similar engine shutdown applications where reliable fault response is critical.
