Dayco Automatic Belt Tensioner Assembly

Belt slippage and squeal are controlled by the constant pressure applied by the Dayco Automatic Belt Tensioner Assembly. This complete Dayco 89442 assembly uses a patented flat spring that applies a controlled torque curve to keep belt tension steady across changing engine speeds. As the belt load changes, the internal spring also absorbs vibration pulses coming off the crankshaft. That damping action reduces shock transfer to accessories, helping bearings and driven components wear more evenly over time. The spring and pivot mechanism are housed in a cast aluminum body that resists cracking and flex under engine heat. Attached to the arm, the included pulley is shaped to guide the belt smoothly and reduce rib wear during operation.
