A spin-on desiccant cartridge on the Bendix Air Brake Dryer lets a shop replace the drying element without removing the entire dryer. That cartridge holds the desiccant beads that pull moisture from compressed air before it reaches the reservoirs, and beads at their absorption limit stop protecting the system even though the housing is still good. Servicing just the cartridge keeps desiccant fresh instead of running the whole dryer past the point it can still remove moisture. A shop swaps the Bendix K252740SC onto the original dryer's base and fittings, and the air lines reconnect the way they were.
