Highway wind buffeting and chassis vibration can cause hood chatter and premature latch wear, and the Automann Hood Latch helps keep front body panels securely retained during demanding highway operation. It uses an impact-resistant composite housing paired with a heavy-duty hold-down clamp that maintains consistent retention force across rough road conditions. A flexible elastomeric catch absorbs normal engine vibration and frame movement so repeated hood movement does not place unnecessary stress on fiberglass panels and surrounding latch components. By reducing vibration transfer through the hood assembly, the Automann HLK1007 helps keep Peterbilt front body panels more securely aligned and minimizes wear around the cowl seal area.
