DAYCO 89955 Part Description

Manufacturer

DAYCO

Product Description

AUTOMATIC BELT TENSIONER, HD, DAYCO

Features & Benefits

Internal spring mechanism gets replaced completely during the rebuild
Rebuilds the pressure a tensioner is designed to hold
Spring mechanism maintains clamping force across repeated heat cycles
Holds tension steady across a wide temperature range

Dayco Belt Tensioner Assembly

A Dayco Belt Tensioner Assembly that squeals briefly on startup, then quiets once the engine warms up, often points to lost spring force rather than the belt itself being worn. The Dayco 89955 replaces that weakened spring mechanism, restoring the clamping force a tensioner is supposed to maintain across the belt's service life. Spring force fades gradually over years of cycling, so the tensioner keeps working at reduced effectiveness long before it fails outright. Holding full spring force keeps belt tension steady regardless of engine temperature or years in service.
