The Meritor Air Brake Spider forms the foundation mounting structure for drum brake hardware at the axle end. It provides the base where brake shoes, anchor points, cam hardware, and related components are positioned around the brake assembly. During braking, the spider helps keep those parts arranged so force from the air brake system can move into the shoe-and-drum contact area. Its role stays structural, not pneumatic, since air pressure arrives through other brake components. If you're rebuilding the foundation brake area, the Meritor A3211A6267 helps position the hardware around the axle end.
