Continental is a manufacturing company specializing in the production of brakes systems, interior electronics, powertrain and chassis components, safety systems, and other automotive pieces, parts, and hardware. The full name of this company is Continental AG — the AG comes from Schaeffler AG, the brand's current primary shareholder and controlling organization.

Continental's history goes back farther than almost any automotive company still in existence around the world. Continental was founded in 1871, more than 140 years ago. When Continental was first founded, it was a local rubber manufacturer, producing rubber products for a variety of different industries. 27 years later, in 1898, the brand first broke into the vehicle market, producing rubber tires for bicycles — which it still does today.

As the years went on, Continental set countless records and had many firsts — such as being the first company ever to manufacture grooved tires for vehicles. Today, the company continues to be at the forefront of innovation in automotive and vehicular design.

Continental is structured in a five-division system with each division functioning semi-autonomously. Those divisions are Chassis and Safety, Powertrain, Interior, Tires, and the world-famous ContiTech. Each of these divisions produces products in the categories after which the divisions were named. For example, Continental's Powertrain Division is in charge of the brand's production of powertrain parts and components.

In order to make it as easy as possible for you to find the Continental parts that are right for you, we have organized the best the brand has to offer into three categories: suspension and steeringbrakes, and belts and hoses (which has been further broken down into nearly a dozen other sub-categories).
