Cat gaskets are a type of mechanical seals designed generally to prevent leakage from mated parts under compression. Gaskets allow for "less-than-perfect" mating surfaces on machine parts where they can fill irregularities. Cat gaskets seal parts from fluid and add extra protection from physical damage.
