This diesel fuel injector is designed to meet or surpass OEM requirements and perform as well as or better than an original part. On a diesel engine that uses compression to ignite the fuel instead of a spark plug and doesn't have a throttle that regulates the air, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber on the compression stroke. Speed and power output depend on the amount of fuel injected into the combustion chamber, so more fuel should be added to get more power and speed. A malfunctioning fuel injector causes a variety of failure modes, from poor fuel economy to start problems.
